For Better or Worse
Today's been an interesting day at work. No not because interesting stuff happened, but because possibly interesting future events have been revealed to us lowly temp assistants. Evidently, once a year the people at this great establishment get released 1 hour early from work for the oh-so-noble reason of allowing them to spend time with their families. (Or so that's what some of the people there think) Like... ONE... WHOLE... HOUR!!!! Wow... That's really going to improve family relations and ties huh? Well, there might be some other sinister plot behind this 1 hour early release thing that none of us, or the other lowly-average workers know about, privvy only to the upper management. *shrugs* Isn't as if I'd be bothered I suppose; going home early is going home early nonethless...except that I've got practice after work on Friday too. =p
And that isn't all of it. We've been asked if we mind working an extra half hour everyday, and perhaps half days on Saturdays as well. An extra half hour a day isn't exactly much to get riled about, but Saturdays? I wouldn't mind once in a while when I'm in one of those "cloud 9" moods, but every Saturday's probably going to get old, and fast. I guess we'll just wait and see how things turn out.
Work aside, other than the mild annoying flu (I'm beating you and you know it!), life isn't all that bad. At a recent practice session, Laoshi cut players (Horror of horrors!) from certain parts in certain pieces. Admittedly, I'm probably one of the weakest players in the section at this point in time, and I doubt I'll get strong enough to surpass anyone in the near future, but honestly... being left out isn't the nicest of feelings. However, I wasn't the one in the worst shape that day. Imagine getting left out of nearly every single part where they cut players, and even at certain portions, when you're the only one not playing in the entire section of 9-strong. I shan't mention names, and I most certainly shan't lie and say that she's the most fantastic of players. In fact, I agree with Laoshi and that she really does need a lot of work if she wants to improve, but... well... I just do feel kind of sorry for her. Work hard!
Back to more band affairs, I'm extremely impressed with our alumni that's just been recently formed (or re-formed?). I honestly believe that AC alumni has the definite potential to progress to achieve great things. (*cough*) Yes I know I sound corny, but it's true! With many strong players and very few... Or... (dare I say it?) no weak sections in the band at all, we may well be able to play stuff everyone's thought impossible before. Although (probably as a buffer more than anything else =p) I shall say that this upcoming concert might not be all we're made out to be. I mean, what can you honestly expect from 6 practices? But this is most definitely a large step before the true beginning of the alumni.
My table's a mess =( And yes that little cupboard-like table thingy (that's kinda like a dresser but has bookshelves instead of a mirror) is a mess too.
