Damn you cockroach!

Yes, damn you cockroach... I spent the better part of 2 hours from 12.30-2+ battling this annoying pest which found its way into my room. It wasn't one of those fly around the room types, which is good because I hate those... I've ever taken my badminton racquet out of my badminton bag to defend against the likes of those, though I've yet to perform one of those smashes on them, firstly because when they get close, the reach of the racquet doesn't allow for it, and secondly because I really really don't want to clear up the mess of a squished cockroach. It's filled with cockroach juice you know... Juice that ends up all over your floor, or any other surface that it happens to explode on. Ewwww...

Anyway, last night, one of those adolescent/young cockroaches decided to appear in my room... It's been a while since the last one, so I guess I should've expected it. It popped up on my CPU while I was just about to do some computing work, which eventually led to me giving up and not doing any... Well, I popped out of my seat and started looking around my table and in my cupboards. Perhaps here is a good time to share how I deal with cockroaches and any other fairly large insects of the beetle-type that invade my room. I search for the closest empty closeable container that I can trap them in, and smoosh it over them and trap them inside it. The best I've found is one of those cd covers, not the ones you put your music/games in, the ones you get when you buy CD-Rs in one big stack of about 10-50. Unfortunately all those I have were currently occupied, so I just pulled all my dvd-rs out and dumped them on my chair. When I turned back to my CPU it was gone! I went out to source for bugspray under my kitchen sink, and when I came back, it was taking a trip around the world... Yes, it climbed over my Eiffel Tower keychain, and my Holland windmill, I even saw the blades turn due to its weight... All my souvenirs from my trips... Urgh... Well, I couldn't get any spray because it was in my parents' room, and I didn't even wake them when the cat was in my room, so I don't think I'd do it for a cockroach. Went back to take on the cockroach armed with an empty DVD-R container and a backscratcher for longer reach.

But that clever little cockroach absolutely refused to come out into any open spaces... I cleared every little thing off my desk, my CDs, my water bottles, my tissue container, alarm clock, Strepsil box, wallet, and other miscellaneous paraphenalia. It crawled about the tight spaces, and went after a tube of medicine I got from the doctor. You know when you squeeze too much and just turn the cap back on the excess gets squished out the sides? Yup, the cockroach was munching down on it happily... I hope it gets poisoned and dies, but I think I shouldn't get my hopes up. Anyway I got too tired after it disappeared for the last time, albeit after running around my wallet, keys and handphone earpiece, and decided to go to sleep... I grabbed -ALL-my pillows (some of which I usually dump on the floor because there's no space on my small bed), and put -ALL- the stuff that used to be on my table, onto my chair and the floor, (checking for the cockroach hanging on to them first of course) and kept my chair beside my bed while I slept. Don't get me wrong, I've absolutely nothing against cockroaches, so long as I don't know they're there. But I've always had this horrible thought of waking up and finding one crawling around on my face, which is why I cannot abide by having one in my room... Untrapped at any rate, I've had a couple running madly inside an overturned rubbish bin (empty other than for the cockroach) and in a CD-R cover. I generally release beetles, but murder most cockroaches...

And that wasn't the end of it! Throughout the whole night, I must've dreamt of about 5 times where I caught that stupid thing, ranging from bugspray to the abovementioned DVD-R cover, only to wake up and find that it wasn't true... I expect it'll appear again tonight... My table is mostly clear, and my empty DVD-R cover is beside me. The bugspray is beside my monitor. I'm prepared for you, cockroach... Bring it on!!!

Oh, and only today do I realise how deep my voice sounds when I'm on the phone... Maybe I'm just sleepy. Previously whenever my grandmother's friends thought I was my dad, I always put it down to their... erm... age and therefore slightly not-up-to-par hearing. But recently, even my aunts and uncles mistake me for my dad, even though it's generally a weekday and he's at work... Cool... Well, back to work I guess... mugmugmug... 3 days left after this, 1.5 days to study...

If you show your ugly face tonight, I will get you...
