Welcome back to school

Well, NUS officially started school last Friday, but it didn't feel like school... As days go by, I feel more and more like I'm in the wrong place, but it's far too late for me to do anything about it. I always have this feeling, that I'd be much happier if my life consisted of nothing but band practice everyday and fun days here and there, but I'm pretty sure everyone feels the same way no? =) School is just too dry and the workload far too annoying to be any fun...

Speaking of school, I woke up this morning to stare at the clock on my wall with bleary eyes, and was shocked to find that it was 10+... I glared at my alarm clock in disbelief to find that it was barely 7 something and my alarm hadn't even rung yet =p. I think it's times like that I should just cover my head with every loose item on my bed and go back to sleep, which, of course, I did... Ended up being awoken by my alarm, which I set to snooze and then waking up 5 minutes later before the alarm rang again. Unfortunately this slightly delay (and the few extra minutes of sleep I got) caused me to miss my bus, and I had to wait like 20 mins for the next one... So I was late for my tutorial! Ergh... Thank goodness this tutorial wasn't too hard to understand, so I didn't miss much...

Decided not to go for my lectures again... Mmmm... Hope I don't regret my decision. Really really really want to go KTV soon! So so so many songs I really want to sing... But everyone's so busy, me included... Sianz... Seems like I really have to wait 2 months before I get to go again...

Need a new playlist, my songs are too depressing... (Very nice though!)

Sigh...

Why are people so busy? My project group couldn't finish the survey qns and most of them are busyish today... So our Chinatown field trip got cancelled... Well that's no big loss really, but that meant the KTV got cancelled too! Terrible... I wanna go sing k... So gian...

Want to sing songs... Lalalala!

Sick

Woke up with a cough and sore throat... As if things couldn't get any worse... It looks like it's going to rain, probably a good thing we aren't going to Chinatown then...

Sigh...

Another band practice day...

Another fun prac day... Ensemble work is so fun... I think we should have them more often... Poor Mr Oura is sick... Get well soon! Finished watching FD3 which wasn't really very fantastic nor very freaky... And hardly scary, but just a lot of gore... Next on the list shall be... Ice Age 2!!! Or Underworld Evolution, depending on which one appears first... and I have time to watch... and company! I refuse to watch movies alone... so...erm... antisocial =P

Discussing project stuff!

Urgh... Suffering from lack of sleep...

Wrapped up in my blanket in front of my computer now, probably look like some weird red dumpling. It's cold this morning, and I'm feeling really sleepy... Why? Cos on Thursday we had the band chalet, which I refused to miss, and ended up cabbing to school from Pasir Ris just to get to my lesson at 8, during which I fell asleep at least what? 10 times? And mind you, it was a French lecture, so the class size was about 30-40 people, and it was held in a small classroomish room and not a lecture theatre... Not to mention I happened to be sitting in the front row right under my lecturer's nose. Desolée Mr Francois, I didn't mean to fall asleep =p But going a night with about an hour's plus of sleep does that to you...

Had my oral next period slightly after 10... Was worrying about it the whole of Thursday, amidst some other thoughts, but it turned out to be quite an amusing session, cos one of my partners decided to use our tutor's name in our little roleplay situation, eliciting peals of laughter from her and my group... Mais, mostly my group =) No idea how we did though, because it seems like we didn't say much, but it was funny, and I think having fun while learning a language is probably a good thing... Can't imagine if French was as dry as like Math or Computing (which I'm still struggling with at the moment). After that was CTW which was dull as usual, then went home to get some sleep.

Interestingly Emmy asked if I wanted to watch a movie, but she said she'd already bought tickets with Jinyuan so I said no, then went to nap from about 5 to 9ish... Den when I woke up it turns out some of the other people said they were going, so I said fine, and we ended up watching Munich at 12.30 at JP...

The movie was not bad, I think some of the imagery and the language used just captured the effects brilliantly, but there were some flaws in the slightly excessive injection of moral values into the whole show, and I thought some bits were a little uncalled for. But it's nice to see how a man, who so firmly believed in his country and his mission, could be reduced by what he was doing to a withering mess who's too paranoid to sleep in his own bed... Not to say I haven't watched enough movies to expect about 1/4 of the plot, like the closet story and some other stuff, but it's still not too bad a show... Really, really expected him to die though, but I guess the effect of his paranoia and how he finally lost all his friends and most of his family in his country had a much stronger effect on the viewer... BTW I still think the German snipers in the show were kinda lousy... I mean, if you have terrorists in a large open space (an airport runway) With no other planes and stuff, and you have the advantage of big bright lights aimed at them, shouldn't you be able to take them all out in at most 2 shots? How is it only 2 go down, and the rest have time to run from the plane to the 2 helicopters and shoot the rest of the athletes and even toss grenades in the helicopters?? I think they need to play more CS...

I think I'm going to be a mess in band today... I get kinda grumpy when I don't get enough sleep, but at least something I've been thinking about is sorta off my mind at last... Shall go shower now and head out to NTU... I hope these new brass ensemble pieces are nice...

Thanks Geri!

French Oral Test on Friday!!!

Heading out soon to go for lessons at JCS... I love languages! They're so much more fun than boring old numbers and stuff... Too bad I'm really quite terrible at them...

Hope I don't regret my actions today

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Whee! Had another fruitful project meeting with a similar group for a different project... We managed to get quite a bit done, and close to the end I discovered they actually go ktv too! OMG... I mean 2 out of the 3 seem the ktv type, but the last one I totally never expected to be the ktv type... Yay have new ktv kakis! I hope...

Band prac today again! So fun! Even though we played mostly nonsenseish pieces... But I still like prac aniwae... Esp the brass ensemble... So fun! I miss playing chamberish stuff, but we have to develop 默契 for this kinda thing... Dunno if we can do it in 1 week...

Band pracs whee!!!

13 posts behind

After this post I'll be 13 posts behind NTUSB... Must write more to catchup! Why? I dunno aso... Bored ba...

No I'm not bored as in I've got nothing to do... Had a pretty fruitful project meeting today, even though 1 of my group members was super tired, and the other was mildly blur, and I did not much preparation beforehand. I've got pages and pages of French homework (Yes lots and lots) and another project meeting tmr... Not to mention I've got a French Oral test on Friday... What fun! Nvm... Shall attempt to start working le...

Work Work... Zug Zug!

I wanna go KTV again...

Sigh... I wanna go KTV again... Strong urge to sing, especially since the last time we only managed to stay in there for 3 hours... Although I've got lots of French homework I dun particularly feel like doing it now... This is feeling like a Sunday when there's no one to talk to and nothing to do...

KTV please... =(

Another refreshing walk

Went for another walk this morning... I love the morning air... Spent most of the journey zoned out and just let my feet do the walking while my mind flew about everywhere...

On the menu today: Chicken with onion, fried egg I guess, and salmon (no idea how we're going to do it today...)

Sleepy... and tired... of it...

First cooking experience!

So fun!! Well, it's not exactly my first cooking experience per se, but I think all the previous times where I just experimented with stuff and things liddat dun really count cos I didn't exactly care how stuff tasted (though they were pretty edible anyway =p). Shall look to learn more stuff... One day I resolve to make dinner! (still a long long way to go...)

Tofu, mushrooms, golden needle mushrooms, vegetables, prawns, chicken, rice!

So hard to get out of bed!!!

Before I go for a morning walk, it's always terribly hard to get me out of bed... But after walking a while and waking up proper, it gets kinda fun... The morning air is not bad (if you don't walk by the parts of the drains that smell), and there aren't many people if you go early and miss all the school kids... I think I'm beginning to like these morning walk things... Fun!

Went to the market with my grandma after the walk... Kinda sorta learnt something about choosing produce even though she didn't really buy much. Shall learn how to cook stuff later! More fun!!

Just learnt that I sometimes talk too much... Admittedly I do, but sometimes I'm just trying to distract from the problem-at-hand, which I guess hasn't worked... Oh well, you learn new stuff everyday, and it's especially good if it's about you and it leads to improvement! =p

Cooking lessons begin before lunch!

What I hear...

It's been playing on my winamp, mp3 player and I've even heard it on the radio recently... My winamp and mp3 player are all on shuffle but dunno why it's played quite a few times already... Still, nice song no?

Refuse to stay home... I'm going out to take a walk later...

Another sleepless night...

Goodness... I woke up super early and now I can't get back to sleep... Why is it my mind only goes into overdrive before or after my tests? If it did during my tests I'd be super happy cos then I'd actually have gotten stuff in my head.

Haven't found the stuff I need yet... I think I'll go down and look later in the afternoon...

Making towering peaks over an anthill...

Mmmm...

I love Band Practs...

Whee... =)

A Quick Post

Just enough time for a quick post before I run off for my test I think... I hope the test isn't too difficult, I honestly dun understand quite a bit of it, but I'm really really hoping not to fail this one. I mean, after all, it's a 5mc module...

Feeling a bit hungry now, guess it comes with not eating since lunch on Thursday... Don't know if I've got time to go eat before prac though, got other things to do after the test anyway so I might have to rush down... Oh well, hope this is all going to be worth it =)

Received an sms yesterday about the insanely large amount of French homework I've got over the term break... The list of exercises was 1 full sms in length... Goodness, and I've got un essai orale on the Friday right after the band chalet... Hope I won't be too tired to do it actually, but I'd rather not miss out on anything at the chalet...

Everyone's been asking me since July/August last year what I was doing in NUS... And I can still honestly say I have no idea... The fact being that the people I'm closest to are at NTU, and I've not many friends I see often in NUS, well... Just strange yarh? Anyway just thought of this since someone asked me (again) yesterday...

Ok, really got to run now... Get well soon all you ppl who're sick... Me included =) Though it's just a mild case...

Wishing and hoping and thinking and praying...

Whee! Just failed my Physics...

What fun! I just failed my Physics test... Haven't eaten anything today... But I don't feel like eating... Guess I'll just study for my computing. I can afford to not eat anyway right?? HAHAHAHAHA....

Bleh...

Fantastic!

Today's a terrible day, and just about to get worse... It's 2 hours before my Physics test (which I'm definitely going to fail) Mainly because I've been wandering about my lessons more like a zombie than anything else... Like when you try to think of something, all you get is blank space in your head, even if you'd just mentioned it 5 seconds ago... For the past 2 hours or so, I've been trying to cram Physics in my head, which has obviously been a failure considering how I don't remember a thing from what I've been looking at for the past 2 hours. I think the stress is getting to me again... Strange though since it didn't happen last sem... Even as I type I've managed to forget what I just intended to say... Just have this feeling I'm about to lapse into depression again...

I totally regret bringing my laptop to school today...

Feeling cold, tired, sleepy...

Nothing much needs to be said except for the above...

I really hope I'm not falling sick...

Focus Focus!!!

The start of midterms... And I still don't understand one bit of what's going on with my 5MC module! I mean, computing? Huh? And the lack of sleep, groggy head and hazy vision don't exactly help either... I need to get to studying... Please for these 3 days at least let me study without worry.

Concentrating on studying hasn't been so difficult in a long time

Sigh... Why can't I get some sleep...

This is bad... I never thought getting into the habit of reading blogs would keep me up... I mean, it's 3am already and I've to be up at about 8am later today to go to school, why won't my brain give me a break? Can't stop thinking about things and things and things... I just wish I could smack it with a hammer and just ask it to go to sleep... Bad brain! *thwack*

Sleepless in Singapore... Wonder if I can concentrate on doing a tutorial now...

Not too bad a day today...

Today wasn't a bad day at all... Even though it's Vday, and I had to wade through throngs of people looking over cute little trinkets at stalls around campus, and I had to avoid stepping on flowers which people left on the ground during lectures while walking to and from my seat, but still it wasn't bad...

We had a new lecturer today for French. Le Nouveau Professeur Français! (I hope =P) Anyway he's actually my tutor for French last sem, so he's not exactly new I guess. But the good news is, he's a fantastic lecturer, and the old one's not coming back! I hope so anyway... Mr François said that the old lecturer went back to his country, wonder if all his bouts of illness finally got to him... He wasn't really a bad lecturer, but... well... I think he just got his objectives wrong in trying to teach the class, which eventually ended up with most people having no idea what in the world he was trying to say most times; and his assignments were just... weird... Whatever it is... Time to take out the champagne guys. =P

Met with both my project grps today. I think CTW is coming along fine, but my SS module's project isn't exactly going anywhere... Time to do work! I have this feeling my poor four day (lousy NUS) midsem break isn't going to be much of a break... With midterm tests coming up, I doubt we'll do anything for the rest of the week. Sigh... Work work...

Ah well, happy Vday to all u ppl who enjoy it! I hope one day I will too... =p In the meantime I think I shall go do my cheatsheet to stop me getting strange thoughts in my head...

Congratulations.... and Celebrations....

Morning walks are fun! If you can wake up...

Just came back from a morning walk w/ my grandma... It's quite fun actually if you've got something to think abt, and the weather's cool... But then you've got to wake up really early if you want cool weather larh. =P I saw the moon again! It's like this big white/yellowish round circle in the sky... So big and bright, albeit less so in the slight sunlight, but still nice... Très fantastique! Ok going to shower... Whee!

Think, thank, thunk! Ow...

Interesting...

Feel like writing something, so I guess i shall... No idea what to write though... Have you seen the moon tonight? It's big, bright and yellow... Quite pretty don't you agree? Could spend hours just watching it, although I doubt I can spare the time...

Wonder why I like using "..." for the end of all my sentences... And there I go again... And again! Weird no?

Pretty moon...

One week to term break... Happy? Sad?

Is it just me, or do tutorials seem to be easier than they are? I couldn't for the life of me do some questions even after rereading lecture notes, poring through textbooks, and pulling my hair for a whole day yesterday (should I cut it by the way?), but after 1 hour in class it seems that I know how to do it already!??! Either I'm really stupid, or someone's trying to be funny... Anyway I suppose it's a good thing that I'm not that far behind in all my modules as far as the tests go, but I think it's still an uphill task to finish everything before the tests start on Thursday. Mug mug mug... Doubt I will though.

Looking to organise another KTV session next week, so I think I'm taking a poll on if anyone will turn up and if you prefer Monday or Tuesday night. Also, badminton/tabletennis Saturdays before band? Is anyone interested? Drop me a message somewhere thanks...

Study? I really should...

The Saturday of 4th Feb 2006

The night before was supposed to be a 11 hour long 7pm-6am ktv session for 9 of us at Cine. Unfortunately we failed to anticipate the large number of people at the place and ended up getting thrown out at 1am+... That really kinda sux cos 3 hours is just not enough. I suppose we all kinda had fun though, with people bouncing up and down on the sofas (which probably explains some of the damage I see at certain outlets) and generally being quite high. Mimi and Huixian have fantastically good voices omg, was totally shocked to hear Mimi sing cos her singing voice and her talking voice are worlds apart, dunno how she manages it also. Den again I think that her current talking voice kinda suits her erm... bubbly personality more anyway. =p

After the-very-short-ktv session we ran off to Jinyuan's hall to find stuff to entertain us till band starts, which ended up with me going back to fetch my mahjong set, laptop and music dvds (which no one used in the end o.O) and us playing mahjong till day broke. As usual I went camera happy since I forgot to bring it to ktv, and took quite a number of photos... Though with the silly no flash mode I've got to hold the camera steady for an annoyingly long time before moving anywhere otherwise the foto ends up as fuzzy as a caterpillar.

I think it was a good thing that we crashed for a few hours before going to prac, cos otherwise most if not all of us would be happily snoozing away when Oura-san's trying to conduct something. Belkis is fun btw, but any piece now sounds terrible due to the serious, severe, excessive lack of players... No idea why people don't want to commit to us, NTUSB has such a lot of nice people to hang around with, tho I won't say there aren't people I don't particularly fancy either. But I'm sure that's true anywhere else too no? Anyway prac went on okaly but Adeline seems kinda annoyed recently... Wonder if it's due to the lack of attendance (not that she can do much about it anyway.) I really don't like the idea of String Orch prac, even though I'm not involved, cos it steals people away from the dinner group after every prac, ending up with just Daniel and I in the end. (Congrats again btw *cough* =p)

Got kinda sian after leaving the band room though... Thought about some stuff like how freaking much work I've got to do before tests start next week and how to pull my bad but not extremely horrendous grades up among others. Thinking is bad for you, in case you didn't know, took me an hour to finally get to sleep even though je suis très très fatiguée... Sux!

OMG how come the clarinets' voices are all so power... I want to sing like that too!
